Care and Maintenance
A little regular care goes a long way toward keeping your bags looking sharp and lasting for years. Here are some tips:
Cleaning
- Hand wash only. Use a gentle detergent and a soft cloth or brush. We don't recommend putting your WOLFpak in a washing machine; this voids the warranty on the item.
- Spot-clean stains with rubbing alcohol on a cloth or toothbrush, working gently in small circles. Test on a hidden area first if you're dealing with a lighter colorway.
- Wipe down hardware (zippers, buckles, D-rings) with a damp cloth to clear out dirt, salt, or sand before it builds up and affects how they move.
Drying
- Air dry only, out of direct sun. Lay the bag flat or hang it in a well-ventilated area. Never use a dryer, and avoid direct heat sources like radiators or car dashboards; heat can weaken stitching and discolor the bag.
- Prop it open while it dries so the interior lining and padding dry fully too. This helps prevent lingering odor or mildew.
Zippers & Hardware
- Keep zippers moving freely by wiping away debris regularly. If a YKK zipper starts to stick, a small dab of paraffin wax or a silicone-based lubricant on the teeth will smooth it back out; avoid oil-based lubricants, which attract more dirt.
Webbing & Fraying
- Some fraying or loose threads at stitching and molle ends is normal with regular use; it's a byproduct of the stitching, the environment, and everyday wear, not a defect.
- If you notice a fray, trim it close and carefully melt the cut end with a lighter to seal it. Do this as soon as you spot it, since a small fray is much easier to manage than one that's had time to spread.
- Work slowly and keep the flame brief; you're sealing the fiber ends, not burning the surrounding material.
Storage
- Store your WOLFpak in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, which can fade fabric and dry out zipper pulls and webbing over time.
- Avoid folding or compressing it under heavy items for long stretches; this can crease the panels and stress the seams.
- If it won't be used for a while, empty it out fully first; leftover moisture or food residue is the most common cause of odor and mildew.
A Few Things to Avoid
- Machine washing or drying
- Bleach, harsh solvents, or abrasive scrubbing
- Prolonged direct sunlight or heat exposure
- Overloading beyond the bag's rated capacity
Warranty Note
WOLFpak's Limited Lifetime Warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship; it doesn't cover normal wear and tear (like minor fraying or worn zipper pulls) or damage from improper care, including machine washing. See our full Warranty Policy for details.
